Mi Cita Con El Presidente / My Date With The Persident

Mi esposo y yo únicamente podemos salir a cenar solitos cuando algún familiar nos viene a visitar. Esta semana pasada mis suegros vinieron a visitarnos, bueno a visitar a los nietos.
Nosotros teníamos planeado una cena romántica en nuestro restaurante favorito. Pero a última hora decidimos ir al mitin del Presidente Obama. Fue la primera vez para mí y para mi esposo que íbamos a un evento político. Yo fui por curiosear más que nada porque yo ya tengo hecha mi decisión sobre la votación. Estábamos bastante lejos así que vi al presidente del tamaño de una hormiguita pero me gusto la experiencia.
Aquí les comparto las fotos de esa noche que finalmente se convirtió en una cita con el Presidente 🙂

My husband and I are only able to go out to eat as a couple when a family member comes to visit. Last week my parents in law came to visit us, well, to visit the grandchildren.
We’d planned a romantic dinner at our favorite restaurant, then at the last minute we decided to go to a rally for President Obama. It was the first time my husband and I had attended any political event. I attended purely out of curiosity; I’ve already made my voting decision. We were far back in the crowd, the President looked like an ant to me but I enjoyed the experience none the less.

Creo que todos sabemos que somos una sociedad de consumo. Lo que “necesitamos” se compra y ya. Y cuando se tiene niños pequeños como yo, se nos va la vida en compre y compre. Los primeros años los niños pequeños pasan por muchas etapas bastante rápido. Algunas cosas las dejan y otras las van necesitando a medida que crecen :).

Aquí van a ver la foto de mi última adquisición. Es una mesita de juegos que la verdad la compre más que nada porque es bilingüe, bueno trilingüe. Tiene los juegos en Ingles, Español y Francés. Yo al ser madre bilingüe tengo debilidad por este tipo de juguetes. Mi meta es que mis hijos sean bilingües así que desde que nació mi hijo hace 10 años me la paso buscando juguetes bilingües, y déjenme decirles que no es tan fácil como parece. Si hay muchos juguetes ahora que son en ambos idiomas pero estos por lo general son más caros y depende de donde vivas los encuentras con facilidad o no. Por ejemplo si vives en un lugar mayormente anglo, no los vas a encontrar en las tiendas más concurridas como Target. Y si, muchas cosas hoy en día se consiguen por internet. Pero por experiencia les digo, que si no sabes exactamente lo que estas buscando puede que no encuentres lo que deseas.

Entonces seguiré mi tarea entre mis dos mundos.

I think that we are all aware that we are a consumer society. What we “need” we buy and that’s it. When you have small children like me, you spend a lot of time buying and buying. In the first few years small children go thru different stages very fast. Some things they grow out of and others they need as they get older :).

Here’s my latest acquisition, an activity table that I purchased mainly because it’s bilingual, well trilingual. The games come in English, Spanish and French. Since I’m a bilingual mother I have a soft spot for that type of toy. If a toy’s both in English and Spanish I’m immediately attracted to it. My goal is for both my kids to be bilingual so I’ve been looking for bilingual toys since my son was born 10 years ago. It’s not as easy as it may seem. Yes, there are many toys in both languages but most not only are more expensive but depending on where you live it might not be easy to find them. If you live somewhere mainly Anglo you’re not going to find them in the most popular stores like Target. Most things now a days can be found and purchased online. However, I can say from experience that if you don’t know exactly what you are looking for you may not find what you want.

I will continue with my job then, in my two worlds.

Una Cena Fuera De Casa / A Night Out

Hace poco mi esposo y yo nos pudimos dar una escapadita y salir a comer sin los niños. Fuimos a un pequeño restaurante de comida italiana. No es un restaurante de estos que son parte de una cadena de restaurantes, es más bien un pequeño, acogedor restaurante con carisma cerca de donde vivimos que se llama Pepper’s.
Llegamos al lugar como a eso de las 6pm y ya estaba lleno, pero bueno es un restaurante bastante pequeño, tiene máximo como unas 10 mesas. Tuvimos que esperar una media hora para que nos sentaran pero valió la pena. Por lo general a mi esposo no le gusta esperar así que me alegro que ese día se aguanto. La comida estaba rica, aunque no es como la comida de mi restaurante favorito italiano. En la escala del 1 al 5 le doy un 4 a la comida. La verdad lo que más me gusto del restaurante fue la atención, la atmosfera y por supuesto la compañía :).

Recently my husband and I were able to get away from the kids. We went out to eat at an Italian restaurant. It wasn’t a chain restaurant, but a small, quaint place close to our home named Pepper’s with a lot of charisma.
We got there around 6pm and the place was packed. It’s a fairly small restaurant with about 10 tables so even though we had to wait half an hour to be seated it was worth it. Generally my husband doesn’t like waiting for a table, but on this night he put up with it. The food was nice although it was as good as my favorite Italian restaurant. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give the food a 4. Truly what I enjoyed the most of this restaurant was the ambience, the service and of course the company :).

El tiempo se va volando…/Time flies….

El tiempo se va muy rápido cuando tienes buena compañía; tuve la dicha de tener a mi Madre conmigo para celebrar mi cumpleaños, fue un cumpleaños inolvidable gracias a mi bella familia, pero muy especialmente gracias a mi esposo…Gracias Honey, Te Amo!

Yo soy muy apegada a mi Mami, y así lo he sido toda mi vida, ella es una gran mujer a la cual admiro y respeto, por ella estoy donde estoy y soy la mujer y madre que soy hoy en día. Ella me escucha, aconseja y dice las cosas más ocurrentes que he escuchado en mi vida. Ella es muy “dicharachera” y de vez en cuando se le sale su ”folklor”(como yo le digo), es picara mi Mami 🙂 y me hacer reír muchísimo con su Spanglish y sus tropiezos con la tecnología. Ella es una mujer inteligente y te sabe de todo un poco, es así como una enciclopedia pero mucho más pequeña e interesante 🙂 ella es una fuente de energía, es una consejera excelente y cocina como los dioses, y además es muy bella.

Con ella he vivido pequeñas y grandes aventuras en mi vida, nuestra última pequeña aventura fue el viaje relámpago a Canada para mi cumpleaños. Disfrute cada minuto con mi Mami, ya no la tengo tan cerca como antes así que esto hace que la aprecie aun más. Fue un viaje inolvidable y me considero muy afortunada por tener una familia tan linda y cariñosa.

Mi Mami fue uno de mis regalos de cumpleaños, y aquí comparto con ustedes fotos de algunos de mis otros regalos. Gracias a todos por un cumpleaños inolvidable.

Time flies when you‘re in good company, I was very fortunate to have my Mother with me to celebrate my birthday. It was an unforgettable birthday thanks to my beautiful family and my wonderful husband… Gracias Honey! Te Amo!

I am very close to my Mom, and that’s how it’s been all my life. She’s an amazing woman whom I respect and admire. I am where I am, and I am the woman and mother that I am, because of her. She listens to me, gives me advice and says the most witty things I have heard in my life. She is very “dicharachera” (which means she uses a lot of colloquial sayings when she talks), and every now and then her “folklore” (as I call it) comes out 🙂 My mom is a very clever lady and makes me laugh quite frequently with her Spanglish and her mishaps with technology. She’s intelligent and knows a bit about everything, she’s sort of like an encyclopedia but much smaller and more interesting 🙂 She’s a source of energy, she’s great at giving advice, cooks like a god and is beautiful woman.

With her I have shared big and small adventures. One of our most recent small adventures was the super fast trip to Canada for my birthday. I enjoyed every minute I spent with her, we don’t live as close anymore so that makes me appreciate her even more. It was an unforgettable trip, I’m a very fortunate girl to have such a beautiful and loving family.
